This will serve as a development blog for my new 3D engine. The idea behind Concept (working title) is to create a generic, modular based game engine with ability to create new game types via "gamekits". Currently a RPG gamekit is developed along side and will serve as a test bed to test the limits of Concept. Feel free to follow the development here.

New Sample Game
It has been awhile. I finally got some time to make a proper demo game with Concept engine. It is a relatively simple game, but it showcases some of the capability possible within Concept. Please let me know what you guys think.
Controls
AWSD - movement
Mouse - Object interactions

Hi, this is Kryzon from the Blitz3D forums, I think I used to talk to you over there.
ReplyDeleteGreat work man.
It plays a little slow in my Dell Vostro 1000.
Also, there are a few polishes needed for interacting with objects.
A suggestion: always show interactible objects, even when far away from them; you can make holding the mouse on an object forces the character to walk toward that object until reaching it close enough for interaction.
This is the way Diablo 1 does it - you might want to check that out!
The graphics are lovely, they really make you immerse in the game and care to find out more about what's happening.
Keep it up.
Thank you very much for trying. Thanks for the suggestion, I will keep that in mind. :)
ReplyDeleteOnce I get more time, hopefully I can polish it up a bit and post on the forum for more feedback.
Any chance you'll start posting demos of the engine itself to let us play with making games?
ReplyDeleteYes, I have plans to release the engine for testing soon. Just currently doing some clean up and drafting documentation. Should be complete end of this month or early next.
